The Last Target Run

You can never really prepare for the end of the world. But Chloe knew it was coming.

She knew when the TV flickered.

When the street outside shifted.

When the stillness became too thick, too heavy.

She knew when she walked into Target, her small hands stuffing frozen sour grapes into her mouth, when she picked the red coat, when she let the officers take her away.

By then, it was already too late.

Because Chloe remembers what the world has forgotten. She remembers the name.

And now, the name remembers us.
